Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
Reflection
In the digital age, teachers must realize that technology integration is no longer an option. Teachers must advocate for a robust number of educational technologies that go beyond the classroom's four walls. Contemporary students must have innovative and creative digital systems incorporate into the lesson to help them achieve the goals of the 21st century and beyond. These goals can only be achieved by exposing students to a diverse amount of technology and resources in preparation of becoming digital citizens. Students' experiences in the classroom must be realistic and applicable to real-world situations, offering problem-solving abilities to master the holistic outcome required. Tools that encourage teachers facilitation are blogs that promotes collaboration and removes the timid stigma of students; Podcast and/or Movie Maker that promotes creativity and innovation; Google.doc that engage students in face-to-face as well as the virtual learning construct, just to name a few in meeting this standard.
Artifacts
1. Blogs and Surveys
2. Google. Doc (slides, gradebook, instructional)
3. Podcast
4. Movie Maker
Future learning goal:
The tools mentioned within this standard have the potential to be very useful in classroom settings. For instance, survey is a tool that I would employ to establish a starting point to began the topic by capturing student's misconceptions, their experiences on the topic and current knowledge of the subject. I would use blogs to collaborate, communicate allowing students to speak freely on a topic without apprehension or fear of peer pressure. Google.doc is a tool that I would absolutely employee within my classroom. With the plethora of features, it allows students to be creativity, share ideas and build projects that focus on student-centered learning. I would use podcast and movie maker as a hybrid to the course, allowing students to learn at their own pace, and develop the skills needed as a digital citizen.
